Spring is a pastel season and 2018 will grace us with a rainbow of muted shades of ice cream colours. How fun! Yes! The sun is out, the air is getting warmer, the mood is improving, the skin is glowing, the sky is clear...you get the picture.
Suggestive, Sensual and Seductive: these are my 3 adjectives to sum up one of the hottest spring/summer trends. Being confident in our bodies may be a constant challenge for some of us and we know very well how important it is to feel at ease with what we wear, empowered by the thin layer of textiles that we put on everyday, the armour that shields and shapes us.
If you think you’re having early 2000s flashbacks, you’re not wrong my friend, cause Spring 2018 is bringing back the denim! Yes sure, denim has never really gone anywhere but I’m referring to the denim all over vibe, like full on total denim outfits. If you remember the good all days of Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake showing up in matching denim on a red carpet, you’ll know what I’m talking about.
It’s always a little bit sad to see the holiday season coming to a close: it’s almost time to take the tree down, presents have been unwrapped and put away (maybe a couple recycled already, no? Just me? Ok). All we are left with is extra holiday weight and the chilly January weather.
“What are you doing on New Year’s Eve?” must be the most frequently asked question every single December. Closely followed by: “and what are you going to wear?!” It’s a ritual: dressing up in something special to celebrate the beginning of a new year is a way to enter it with positive intent and a touch of glamour, basically a good luck charm. And we do not want to defy luck now, do we?
Do you smell the cold, frosty air? Do you smile at the city streets brightened up by the festive lights? Do you long for a super warm cup of hot choc? Is THAT Mariah song constantly playing in your mind? Do you secretly switch all the lights off at home just to stare dreamingly at the lit Christmas tree? Did you wrap up all the presents? And more importantly, did you write to Santa yet?
We hear velvet and immediately think of softness and smoothness. Shimmery to the eyes, fine to the touch, this fabric has made quite the come-back and it’s been seen everywhere in the Fall-Winter collections, frankly I can see why. Growing up my mum had a black velvet pant suit and I always thought she looked both super elegant and badass in it. Velvet is actually quite a versatile material and you may find it in blazers, kids clothing, suits of any kind.
Winter is here. And if we have learnt anything from Game of Thrones it’s that a big heavy coat can be super sexy (I’m looking at you, Jon Snow). So this is great news for us ladies who are always chilly. I don’t know about you, but I’m the person that always thinks the air-con is on too high, the one that always shuts the car window and I’m sure leaving the kitchen window open for 30 seconds is more than enough to refresh the air.
Alarm rings. Wake up. Take a shower. Have some coffee whilst checking your social media feeds (did I filter that instagram post too much or too little?). Remember what day it is. Oh how very boring, it’s only Thursday! Quickly check your diary for reminders. Pick the work outfit… Wait. What? The Party is tonight? Totally forgot! I don’t have time to get changed after work, what am I gonna wear? Nope, that’s too officey for a party. Nope, that’s too party for the office… oh great! Now I’m late for work!
You know what they say: as soon as Halloween is over, it’s basically time for Christmas. And when they say Christmas, you know what we all think? No, not panettone. Nope, not Christmas presents and also not decorating the tree! We think: Party Season! Between lunches, dinners, drinks and parties, late November to early December is basically a daze of sparkly outfits and bubbly, am I right?
Sleeves are having a moment. We know that by now, we’ve seen all the different kinds of statement sleeves on the catwalks and on the many streets of fashion. If we have tried them, we know what a difference they make in your outfit. Your posture changes slightly to accommodate the new volumes and the rest of your outfit doesn't need to shout cause the sleeve is there to fill the void and give everything a strong meaning.
