VIVIENNE WESTWOOD: Vivienne Westwood born on April 8, 1941 in the United Kingdom, was to become a teacher, wife and mother. When she married Derek Westwood in 1962, she made her own wedding dress herself. The meeting with Malcolm McLaren in 1965 was fatal, as they were both pushed by the rebellion not to be homologated. Westwood, together with McLaren, becomes the leader of a new movement of change:they create the universe of punk rock, making it a fashion style. Since Westwood began designing clothes in 1971, the leitmotif of the collections is the conflict between modernity and classic references. Westwood offers a new reading of history, breaking the contemporaneity and monotony. The British designer is still today the emblem of commitment, talent and not afraid to break the mold.
